Grayson Highlands Bouldering & Stewardship Event 2025: Trail Work, Community, and Climbing in Southwest Virginia

ree

This year’s Grayson Highlands Bouldering & Stewardship Event was a triumph! With more than 65 volunteers joining us from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, we accomplished an incredible amount of work caring for one of Appalachia’s best high-country boulderfields.

Together, we maintained over five miles of climber access and park trails, installed more than 60 new trail markers, rock-armored multiple landing zones, and improved access to three new bouldering areas in Grayson Highlands State Park. Volunteers also cleared fallen timbers left by recent storms and helped keep this world-class climbing destination in top shape for seasons to come.

The weekend wasn’t all hard work, though—perfect spring weather meant plenty of time for superb bouldering sessions, including some unforgettable night climbing on Olympus. Our raffle raised over $1,000 for CACC, which will go directly toward future stewardship projects and the protection of climbing areas across Central Appalachia.

A huge thank-you goes out to every volunteer who showed up with tools, energy, and good vibes, and to our event sponsors who made the raffle such a highlight. We’re also deeply grateful to Grayson Highlands State Park for their continued partnership and stewardship of this incredible public landscape.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Grayson Highlands Bouldering & Stewardship Weekend, but until then, stay tuned for our upcoming Friday Night Lights event and more ways to get involved with the CACC community.
